Fourth and fifth graders may choose flute, clarineo, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, baritone horn, trombone, violin or cello.
No
musical experience is required to enroll in a beginning class.
Students
with some prior experience will be placed in an intermediate or advanced
level ensemble depending on ability.
To best accommodate all the students, the final
schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. Students
will be notified of their lesson time by their classroom teacher
and by e-mail.
An orchestra recruitment assembly will be presented to all students on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the auditorium. Parents are welcome to attend.
Instruction begins on Friday, October 7, 2011 and runs through
the school year, culminating with an evening concert on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 4:00 PM (beginneres) and 7:00 PM (orchestra) in the auditorium.
A one-time music donation of $395 is requested to cover the instructional
costs of this year’s instrumental music program. In addition, a $20 music fee is requested to cover all music, books and basic supplies which your child
is given. The only other expense will be the lease, rental or
purchase of the instrument.
A limited number of scholarships are available to those who request
them and every attempt will be made to see that all students
who wish to participate are given the opportunity regardless
of financial considerations.
Through special arrangements with a local music retailer, instruments
are available for purchase, rent or lease-to-own at up to 45%
off the retail price for participating music students.
