The UCLA Lab School Instrumental
Music Program is provided as a regular part of the school’s
instructional program.
Larry Newman is the music director. Emily Senchuk, Debbie Klak, Lyn Bertles, Jonathan Terry, Julie Metz and Bianca Samaniego are the music
teaching specialists.
Applicants will received a confirmation email on Saturday, October 1 to confirm your class day. REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
Classes are held before school, Monday through
Friday, from 7:35 AM - 8:25 AM beginning on October 3 as follows:

Mondays: Beginning Violins Section A in Community Hall
Tuesdays: Beginning Violins Section B in Community Hall
Tuesdays: Beginning Flutes in Extended Day Classroom.
Wednesdays: Intermediate High Violins in Community Hall
Wednesdays: Intermediate Woodwinds and Brass in Extended Day Classroom
Thursdays: Orchestra Strings in Community Hall
Thursdays: Orchestra Woodwinds and Brass in Extended Day Classroom
Fridays: Intermediate Low in Community Hall
Fridays: Beginning Clarinet, Sax and Brass in Extended Day Classroom
Yard supervision has been arranged
for car pool members who are not involved in music class from
7:35 AM.
A gala spring concert is scheduled for Friday, May
4, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the renowned Schoenberg Concert Hall Auditorium
on the UCLA campus.
There is no
additional fee or charge for the music lessons. However, some non-instructional
costs may include music books, music supplies and the purchase, lease
or rental of the musical instrument.
Students receive instruction
one day per week on the instrument of their choice.
Classes are for beginners as well as students with some previous
experience.
Instrument choices include flute, clarinet, alto
sax, trumpet, baritone horn, trombone, violin and cello.
Students must be at least seven years old to participate.
Seven year olds may choose only the violin.
Ages eight and up may choose any instrument except sax and baritone
horn. You must be nine or older to choose the sax or baritone horn.
